Bad Pickups

I purchased a new pickup rail (with all brand new pickups) from Major Key almost 4 years ago for my 1979 suitcase 73. So far I've had to replace three pickups and have just had another one go bad. Can anyone tell me if it's normal for these things to wear out this quickly? If not, what might be causing mine to go out? I hate replacing those things because it's such a pain to change them out – I'm LOUSY with a soldering iron and usually make a big mess of it.

I wrote Major Key and asked them whether this is to be expected, but so far have not received any reply. Are they still in business?

Thanks for any and all advice,

James

Hey James,
I believe there was a flood at Majorkey and some people that work there were in a car accident.  I think Julie is the only one that is there on a regular basis these days and it will probably take a while.

Wow - I didn't know about that. Thanks for the info...
