Our town lost a music venue this week
« on: November 20, 2014, 12:32:55 PM »
One of Athens Ohio's oldest bars The Union burned up along with several other businesses in a big fire at the end of last weekend. It's pretty big news around here but I post to the forum because apparently one of the bands that lost equipment was "Speaking Suns" from Yellow Springs, Ohio. A Nord fell victim to the flames.

That wasn't yours was it Peter?

No it wasn't, but I know those guys. Everyone knows everyone in Yellow Springs. Damn shame. That Nord was in a road case I gave to the keyboard player.

Yeah. I figured there were probably no more than a couple Nords in the whole town. One fewer now.

Ah what a cool place! That was my alma mater.  How the hell did it happen ?
Ps ever hear of a band Yellow Light Maybe? Or 2EB. We started the band in Athens when in school. I'm not with them any longer though.

"Investigators say they know where fire started but not how or why."

It didn't start at The Union but rather in a neighboring building.

I don't recognize those band names. I hit town in 1990 and was up on the local music scene for only the four years I was in school. Played a few gigs upstairs at The Union.
