if you strike a key (my definition of this is hitting the key and lifting off) is that note suppose to ring out or die when you take your hand off the key?
i notice my keys have decent sustain when i hold down the key after hitting it but if i let go it stops.... BUT on one key i STRIKE it and the baby rings out till the end of time. maybe i should check the damper?
(i got this piano 2 hours ago.)
anyways thanks for the help

ps its a fender rhodes mark 1 1973 73 key.

Hi.

I think You should check the damper over this particular key.Sometimes the dampers need to be bent a little bit for it's better work.
Try to check the dampers while the sustain pedal is depressed.

Good luck,

hey mimicthis,

So you got your rhodes. Congrats. I too have a 1973 Mark 1 stage. Yeah I'd say the damper on that one tine is not coming back to it's resting position on the tine itself. As jazzualdo mentioned it might just need to be bent back into position. be careful don't over do it.

I have a key that is quite the opposite. It dampens almost immedialte even while I hold down the key. I have to bend my the opposite direction that you need to.

thanks for the help. ya i looked at the key right after i wrote this and figured it out. all in all the keyboard was worth 200 bucks. i had to take everything out and clean it the other day but now it seems to be doing fine.
