HI, New here to the forum. I have two 140b's and they both have a hum. One is worse than the other. I have up graded the power supply to three prong ground and had VV work on the amp. I heard the power light next to the volume/vibrato knob can cause some humming. Since I'm repainting one, I need to remove the light (which I don't know how to do) in order to paint. I thought I might change it if it's not to difficult. Has anyone change the light to LED from VV and had improvement? Also how to I get the old light out?
Thanks!

I believe you have to unsolder or cut the wires from the old light and then unscrew the nut on the underside.  I can't attest to the improvement in sound though. I've put an LED in an amp with hum and had no improvement, and i've put an LED in a good amp with no improvement either. I'd rather have an LED anyway though.

More likely causes of hum would be a bad (worn) volume control, or open ground wires. I personally would check the volume control before changing the light.

Ok, sounds like the light might not be my issue. Are volume control still available?

I'm sure someone has a comparable one. Remember, it needs a power switch too.

You would be better off buying a new one rather than NOS, because an old one could possibly have issues even if never used due to age.  The carbon(?) that the wiper moves across gets worn, more in used pots than unused, of course, and that causes hum. It drove me nuts when I owned a 720. I replaced every cap, grounded and regrounded  everything, and it turned out to be the control. In that case, the hum was loud regardless of the setting of the volume control. Is that what is happening with yours?
