Lots of people do things like this- it's all a matter of personal preference which is one of the great things about working on a Rhodes. All I can say is to try it and see if you like the change. I would bet that you will.

Agreed with Steveo, many people change the transition point of hardness.

Back when "The New Rhodes" was in Production a few years back, I visited the factory and they were experimenting with different hardness tips in the transition areas to eliminate the sonical differences... If I remember correctly they introduced a few blue tips which they put in between the yellow and white tips. I got a bag of these blue tips in my shop. I haven't tried these in a vintage Rhodes yet but I must admit that the sonical differences in the New piano weren't as obvious as in the some of the older ones...

That's really interesting to hear! Are those tips graduated and do you sell/ship them?

I got several different types of tips with different hardness... The shape of them was the regular triangular shape. Unfortunately I only got a small bag of the blue ones which I intend to keep for myself for later use... Sorry...
