Sustain pedal rod slipping on top & blocking dampers

hi everyone
new to this great site, thanks!

i have a problem with my markII: when adjusting the top of the sustain pedal rod to the hole in the rhodes' body, everything seems fine – until it suddenly slips away while playing. it then blocks the dampers, and the keys sound on.

the small plate in the hole, where the pedal rod is supposed to fit to, is kind of loose, so a propper fixing of the rod is quite difficult.

anyone with the same prob / suggestion? would be very appreciated.
thanks a lot and have a nice day
