What do you think of this sound?  Does it have too much treble?  Do you think I could make a better recording if I played through a guitar amplifier? How much compression do you guys use when you record these things?

It sounds good to me.. The amount of treble is subjective to each listener.. If recording with a band, you may want more treble so it cuts through. I only use a touch of compression ( if any) on most instruments except bass and vocals, I use a bit more.

You don't want it to sound too compressed, unless you want it as an effect.
