Hello,
my pair of speakers is making noise with the loudest and bass sounds. I tested the speakers in an external sound and the problem remained, that is, the problem is with them.

Has anyone repaired the wurlitzer speakers yet?

Thank you!

What do you mean by repairing them? Blown speakers would need to be re-coned, not really a DYI job- I believe it's cheaper to replace them

About repairing I meant: swapping the cone (Do you know any stores that sell the cone?).
My speakers are ok, however with very loud and bass sounds the coil scrapes making a strange noise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQjEcVE6gCc&t=0s&list=LLMHYqlBwxseqGEw3Eg945Dg&index=20).

I am planning to buy new speakers on vintage vibes, however,
shipping costs 2x the value of the product and I will still pay 100% tax.  :-\

Thank you!

No, you can't buy new speaker cones and replace them. Scraping coils mean the speakers are blown. There are companies that will recone them for you, but it may be cheaper to buy new speakers. You can find other sources.

Why would shipping double the price?

That is ridiculous! There is no way that shipping costs anything close to that for two little speakers.
Keep looking...where did you see this price? I looked at VV and the shipping was under $30. The speakers were more, but the total price was less than what you posted.

International postage from USPS is crazy, I try to avoid it now and use couriers.

It is high...but honestly shipping is high these days when dealing with vendors from the United States.I rarely buy anything off eBay that is not through the Global Shipping Program and certainly am hesitant buying from vendors who use USPS. I end up getting royally dinged with shipping fees, brokerage fees, etc. for anything coming from the United States. If someone knows of shipping tricks please share. Perhaps as a Canadian I am better now buying from oversees?

I know that whenever I use the USPS shipping calculator to ship to Canada or overseas, the price quoted to me is always too LOW. I have lost money by USPS UNDER quoting people for shipping, then the real price happens at the post office.... Maybe this happened to others then they overcompensate by charging too much?

Just a guess.

As long as the shipping price for the speakers do not drop, I'm content with the sound of Wurly in those home theater speakers.  :-\

pianotuner steveo

That's a good temporary solution, but the frequency range of stereo speakers is greater than the range that a Wurlitzer produces. Do you find there is excessive hiss with these?

You can't find a speaker reconer tech where you live? Sometimes parts can be found by these guys who deal with speakers or they know how to fix things without having to buy new parts.

Sounds to me the coil needs adjusting, or there's dirt/rust inside the gap where the paper bobbin sits within the magnet and is rubbing up against the bobbin or dancing around while you play.

From your video it was not clear enough to see the condition of the cones. Perhaps the cones can be reused or edges repaired. But the weird sound doesn't happen all the time only during peaks in the volume.

I'd say take it to some speaker reconer in your country rather than deal with expensive shipping and customs. If that fails then you'll do what many people do who live outside CONUS playing American made instruments, pay to get the parts you need, where is, as is.
