Loose hammers (Side to Side movement)
« on: October 29, 2018, 06:02:37 PM »
Hi,

I'm refurbishing and I have several hammers that have significant play left to right. I had a problem when playing several hammers got 'stuck' laterally as a result (I believe) of this side to side looseness.

Is it recommended I buy new hammers or should I look into trying  to repair them?
Also, any recommendations when replacing hammers? IS Vintage Vibe the only way to go?

Thanks!!

Two things to look for:

1. Hammers that move side to side should make you suspect that the hammer comb is cracked.  I mean the hammer  mounting flange.

2.  Each hammer has little bumps or pins that fit into the flange, sometimes the pins are broken off.
